Japan Prefectures

Find the 47 prefectures of Japan on the map. They are grouped into the eight traditional regions (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu), so you can drill one stretch of the archipelago at a time. Okinawa is drawn in an inset, since the Ryukyu islands trail off hundreds of kilometres southwest of the mainland. See Wikipedia for the full list.

You can switch the names to Japanese before you start, which also restores the suffix the romanized names drop: 青森県 rather than Aomori, and 東京都, 京都府, 大阪府 and 北海道 for the four prefectures that do not take 県.
